Dr. Gene
Fliedner is an Associate Professor of Operations Management within the Decision
and Information Science Department at Oakland University. Over the past 30+
years, he
has taught extensively within the Undergraduate, MBA and Executive MBA Programs
at Indiana University, Texas A&M University, and
Oakland University designing, developing and teaching courses including
Project Management, Operations Planning and Control, Operations Management, and
Supply Chain Management.
Dr. Fliedner has
published in numerous premier business journals including the Journal of Operations Management, Decision Sciences, the International Journal of Production
Management, Computers and Operations
Research, the Journal of Production
and Inventory Management, the European
Journal of Operational Research, Industrial
Management and Data Systems, and others. In 2011 Business Expert Press
published his book Leading and Managing
the Lean Management Process.
Dr. Fliedner is also
a member of several professional societies. As a member of the Decision
Sciences Institute, he has served in various capacities, including Vice
President. As a member of the Midwest Decision Sciences Institute, he has
served in various capacities, including President, Secretary, Program Chair and
others. In 2011, he received a three-year Fellowship from the Pawley Lean
Institute at Oakland University. In 2010, he received the distinguished Fellows
lifetime service award from the Midwest Decision Sciences Institute. As a
member of the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) he
served on the board of Directors of the Houston, TX Chapter as well as serving
as a faculty advisor for a student chapter. In 1995 and he was awarded
certification by APICS at the Fellows level.
