Today's student population includes many individuals with psychological, social, and civility challenges.  As a result, more and more faculty find themselves confronted with the need to address alarming behaviors that negatively affect the teaching and learning process.

Part I:  Managing Disruptive Classroom Behavior:

This workshop will explore four critical areas for effectely addressing disruptive student behavior in the classroom.
  • The changing demographics of today's college student. 
  • Common characteristics of disruptive behaviors. 
  • Effective classroom management/intervention strategies.
  • Available campus resources and disruptive behavior reporting protocol.

 

Part II OU’s Emergency Preparedness for Faculty:
Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

Presented by : Chief Sam Lucido, Chief of Police for Oakland University for over 10 years and over 40 years of experience

  • Overview of the University’s Emergency Preparedness Procedures.
  • What information is available and where to find/access the information.
  • What behaviors to “be on the lookout for”.
  • How to appropriately report them to University officials.

Both sessions will be at 12:00 PM—1:30 PM in the Learning Studio (200A Elliott Hall)
