Poetry and Pedagogy: Where Do They Collide?
"What gets you going, centered? What gets you ready to teach?"
"There once was a man from Nantucket...(continued)..."
The serious, the lighthearted, the dark and the light: how might poetry inform/inspire teaching
and more importantly, student learning? This program explores the life that poetry brings to
pedagogy and student engagement.
Participants: bring poetry to perform that is fun, engaging or insightful.
Co-hosts, David and Ron will get things moving.
Next, we’ll explore the art of bringing poetry into the classroom. We’ll look at how we, as professors,
invent or otherwise draw on poetry for hope, insight and energy in creating pedagogy that matters.
Participants: bring examples, thoughts, play, and a
sense of humor.
Co-hosts:
Ron Rapin, Modern Languages & Literatures
David Lau, Communication and Journalism
