Poka Yoke or error proofing is the awareness, detection and prevention
of errors that adversely affect customers and employees. Each of these
levels – awareness, detection and prevention – is vital to the overall
error proofing process.
Awareness means acknowledging that a mistake can be made, communicating
that potential and planning a way to detect or prevent that mistake.
Detection means once a mistake does happen, it can be easily found, and
letting someone know to fix it before it reaches the customer.
Prevention is not allowing for mistakes to occur in the first place.
