Ensuring a Diverse Applicant Pool to the School of Medicine
Partnerships Aimed at Broadening Diversity
The Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine has developed programs and partnerships aimed at broadening diversity among qualified applicants for medical school admission. We were early adopters of Holistic Review in admissions.
Pipeline programs:
The Beaumont Future Medical Scholars Program introduces students who have a strong interest in medicine and science to explore the many avenues of medical education and careers in medicine. The Summer Research Academy is a program for groups traditionally under-represented in medicine. We also are involved in Community Engagement Highlight Weekend for Accepted Students.
We also attend recruitment fairs and the Michigan Medical School Consortium on Diversity Medical Fair.
