The mission of The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at Oakland University is twofold: To support faculty efforts to improve teaching by creating learning environments in which our diverse student body achieves maximal learning potential, and to promote a culture throughout the university which values and rewards effective teaching, and respects and supports individual differences among learners.
As the founding Director of CETL, it is my honor and privilege to work toward meeting this mission by providing support, mentorship and professional development for all faculty on campus. I look forward to working with all of you as together we create a university community that promotes and values a culture of teaching and learning excellence. I bring to this position my passion for teaching, my background, experience and research in curriculum and instruction, and my commitment toward supporting diverse learning and student success. It is the collaboration, however, with a competent, qualified and engaged faculty and administation that can turn this mission into a reality.
