New Teaching for a New Generation: Learning and Sharing Community
This learning community will serve as a forum and support network through which faculty who wish to continually transform their teaching to meet the needs of the youngest generation of university students will be supported with new information, peer support, and strategies that foster student engagement. This learning community is designed for all who teach at Oakland University - including new faculty who have had little or no teaching experience to faculty who may be highly regarded for their teaching experience and expertise. Independent of "where" a faculty is on this experience continuum, all faculty must continually explore ways to transform teaching to meet the needs of today's students. Indeed, Oakland University faculty have been given a "Wake-Up Call" to transform teaching in ways that will foster student engagement (Bertocci, Winter 2008). This group will explore and implement promising strategies that are aligned to the current generation of learners.
