BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Capone earned his B.A. in Biology and Italian Studies (1979) from Brown University where he continued his studies and  received his M.D. in 1983.
                                                                                                                          
At the conclusion of his Fellowships (University of Pittsburgh, corneal research, 1986; and Emory University, vitreoretinal diseases and surgery, 1991), Dr. Capone joined the faculty at Emory University, where he was Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship Training Program. He joined ARC in 2000. Dr Capone is a Clinical Professor of Biomedical Medical Sciences at Oakland University, Co-Director of the ARC Vitreoretinal Fellowship Training Program, and an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Capone’s special interests include pediatric retina and macular disease. He has authored or co-authored over 150 publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, book chapters, and publications from national clinical trials. Dr. Capone is an internationally recognized speaker. His current basic science and clinical research interests encompass both pediatric and adult retinal disorders, including participation in National Institute of Health and National Eye Institute sponsored trials. He has been actively involved in resident and fellowship education for more than 15 years.

Dr. Capone has been named to America's Who's Who in Medicine, The Best Doctors in America, and The Best Doctors in the Southeast. He is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Surgeons, American Society of Retina Specialists, Macula Society, Retina Society, Association for Research in Vision in Ophthalmology, and the International Society for Eye Research.
