Majors and non-majors are welcome to audition for a variety of theatre productions throughout the school year.



Student-directed Productions:
Students select, direct and perform in these shows, which include the annual Halloween tribute to the best horror film directors of all time. Check first floor Actors ‘n’ Techies bulletin board for audition notices. Student-directed one act plays are also part of Directing I and II classes. 

Little Mary Sunshine

October 6-16, 2011, Varner Studio Theatre
Auditions: April 20-21
Fun, merriment, and pure entertainment provide the backdrop to this delightful spoof of old-time musicals. The story centers on the dashing and gallant Captain "Big Jim" Warington of the Colorado Forest Rangers, as he tries to win the heart of Mary Sunshine, while at the same time stopping a dastardly villain in his murderous plot. In the end, the lovers are united and the villain is defeated. A chorus of winsome school girls helps complete this loving lampoon of old-fashioned musicals.

The Women of Lockerbie

In 1988, over the rolling green hills of Lockerbie, Scotland, Pan Am Flight 103 was targeted by terrorists and crashed. It is December 21, 1995, the seventh
anniversary of the disaster and the night of the winter solstice. Inspired by the true story of the Laundry Project, in this play the women of Lockerbie, determined to convert an act of hate into an act of love, want to wash the clothes of the dead and return them to the victims' families. Bureaucracy tries to stand in their way. The tragedy is seen through the eyes of one American family and the residents of the little town whose lives were changed forever. It is a poetic drama about the triumph of love over hate.

Much Ado About Nothing

A military war has just ended, but the "merry war" between Beatrice and Benedick rages on! Can their friends trick them into making love instead? For that matter, can another couple's devotion survive the evil Don John's vicious lies? It's up to the blundering constable to save the day so that the course of true love may yet run smoothly.

Grey Gardens

Meet Edith Bouvier Beale and her daughter "Little Edie," Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' most scandalous relatives! Members of Memphis' famed Beale family, they were once part of high society, but now have become East Hampton'smost notorious recluses, living in a dilapidated mansion with 51 cats. Based on the 1975 cult classic documentary, Grey Gardens in an hilarious yet heartbreaking look into the lives of two indomitable and eccentric women.

Captain Louie

Young Louie feels lonely in his new neighborhood. Looking for something to cheer himself up on Halloween Night, Louie returns to his old neighborhood friends in an imaginary journey on the wings of his favorite toy, his little red plane. The story is full of tricks and treats, and the incomparable music and lyrics of Stephen Schwartz. Most of all, Captain Louie is about friendship -- the ability to make new friends and the importance of old ones.
