Cool Science for Curious Kids - Created by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, this site offers activities for children about plants, butterflies, air quality, and more.
Environmental Kids Club - Global warming, Earth Day, and recycling are only some of the topics addressed in this website that contains coloring pages, puzzles, games, and stories. Gr. 4-8.
Imagine the Universe - "This site is intended for students age 14 and up, and for anyone interested in learning about our universe." News, special features, and many explanatory articles. Includes math and science lesson plans.
Interactives: Rock Cycle - an interactive site where students can learn all about the formation and types of rocks, identifying them and how they change. Includes short animations which show geological changes over time and describes the processes that cause these changes. Short, multiple-choice quizzes allow students to check for understanding as they progress through each section of the site.
The Nine Planets - "An overview of the history, mythology, and current scientific knowledge of each of the planets and moons in our solar system."
Physics Central - From the American Physical Society - physics in the news, a physics expert who answers questions, subject access to previous questions and answers, plus links to more physics resources for beginners (all ages), general (high school) and advanced (beyond high school).

What's It Like Where You Live? - Designed for grades 4+, this site from the Missouri Botanical Gardens gives comprehensive information on biomes and ecosystems of the world.

Museums and Science Centers
Exploratorium - The Learning Studio has fun activities, links to ten cool sites (selected monthly), and interactive exhibits. This is only one of the informative and entertaining sections at this site.
Field Museum - Online exhibits incude Sue, the world’s largest, most complete Tyrannosaurus rex, the butterfly collection, and the man-eating lions of Tsavo.
National Museum of Natural History - Through Educational Resources, find several electronic field trips plus additional information for students and teachers.
Science Museum of Minnesota - Online activities include going back to the time of the dinosaurs, looking at windmills and whirligigs, and monarch butterfly migration.
