A short story from Brittany Bellucci in her Communication capstone course Winter 2011.
“As a child I grew up with an interest in science. I was involved in the Science Olympiad and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. However, as I graduated into middle school my love for science soon began to fizzle. The teachers that taught my courses did not communicate effectively enough to sustain my love for science. When I entered high school, my teacher was passionate about the subject and about his students. He had touched a spot in my brain that had been disengaged for many years. My love and interest for science was pulled out and he rekindled the flame that I thought had been lost.”
When Brittany had the opportunity to engage in a community learning service project this semester, she knew what to do.
“Spreading the passion I have about science with my former teachers’ students allows me to share something with many that I am interested in and at one time thought was gone forever."
Teachers inspire students. And, in so many ways, students inspire teachers.
