Applying to Oakland University
What to Know:

1. The application process varies by program.  OU has no application or enrollment fees.  Applications are online.
2. Tuition rates are always posted at www.oakland.edu/tuition .
3. Students pursuing financial aid eligible programs in need of aid should visit www.oakland.edu/financialaid .

Students who want to add an additional undergraduate endorsement to their teaching certificate (i.e. Option 1 from "Approved Planned Program Options 1-4" available at www.oakland.edu/sehs/certrenewal) should follow these steps to apply:
a. Go to www.oakland.edu/apply
b. Click on "Second-Degree Students"
c. For "Application Type" choose "9e. Addl Endr to Teacher Cert."
d. In the "Essay" section of your application, write in what type of teaching certificate you hold (i.e. elementary or secondary) and the endorsement you plan to pursue.
e. You are welcome to log back in to the online application system to track your status, or request a status check by calling the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at (800)-OAK-UNIV.
f. Once admitted, you will receive instructions on how to activate your ID and register for classes using SAIL.
NOTE: Students who are admitted to OU under this (U4) status are not eligible to qualify for financial aid!

Students who want to enroll in RDG 510 should follow these steps to apply:
a. Go to www.oakland.edu/grad
b. Mouse over "Non-Degree Admissions" on the left-hand side and click on "Professional Development."
c. Click on "Online Application for Admission."
d. Read and follow the information listed.
e. For "Select an Application Type," choose "Grad - Professional Development."
f. For "Program Applying To," choose "Professional Development - Education"
g. In response to the question "What course(s) do you plan to take as a professional development student?" write "I want to take RDG 510."
h. You are welcome to log back into the online application system to check your status by visiting www.oakland.edu/grad/status .
i. Once admitted, you will receive instructions on how to activate your ID and register for classes using SAIL.
NOTE: Students who are admitted to OU to only take RDG 510 are not eligible to qualify for financial aid!
