Alan Koffron, Interim Chair of Surgery

Alan J Koffron, MD, graduated from the University of Iowa School of Medicine. He completed residencies in general, thoracic and trauma surgeries at the University Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School. In addition, he completed dual fellowships in multi-organ and pediatric liver transplantation at Northwestern University and Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

One of the world's leading innovators in hepatobiliary surgery and live-donor liver transplantation, Dr. Koffron joined Beaumont in May 2008 as director of multi-organ transplantation at Beaumont, Royal Oak and currently serves as director, Transplantation Surgery. Before joining Beaumont, he served as the medical director of the Living Donor Liver Transplant Program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and as associate professor of transplantation surgery, Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University Medical School.
