What ti Know:
- The requirements for renewal of an Administrative Certificate are different from those needed for Administrative Certificate application. If you need to apply for your Administrative, please return to www.oakland.edu/sehs/certrenewal and click on the “Applying for the Administrative Certificate” link.
- To renew your Administrative Certificate, you need to have completed:
- 6 semester credit hours of appropriate coursework from an accredited Michigan higher education institution (including accredited community colleges),
- 6 semester credit hours of appropriate coursework from an out-of-state university that has a state-approved teacher preparation program,
- 18 State Board – Continuing Education Units (SB-CEUs), or
- a combination of semester credit hours of appropriate coursework and SB-CEUs. Six semester credit hours are equivalent to 18 SB-CEUs. Three SB-CEUs are equivalent to one semester credit hour.
- The credits and/or SB-CEUs you use to renew your Administrative must not be more than 5 years old.
- Oakland University’s Office of Professional Development (www.oakland.edu/pd) offers many courses for Administrative Certificate renewal.
- Once you have completed the requirements to renew your Administrative Certificate (all grades must be posted),
- go to www.michigan.gov/moecs to apply for your new certificate, and
- send your completed Record for Continuing Education Credits for School Administrators form via fax (248-370-4245), e-mail PDF attachment (dillard@oakland.edu), or mail (address listed below).
- Your application will be processed within 8 weeks from the date you submitted it on MOECS.
- If any of the credits needed to renew your Administrative were completed at another institution, you will need to drop off an official transcript in a signed, sealed envelope or mail it to:
