Access to leading specialists and researchers
With over 3,700 physicians representing 91 medical and surgical specialties, you will learn from some of the leading experts in their respective fields. Beaumont has over 900 active research studies and its extensive network of clinical operations have allowed for 81,000 subjects to be enrolled.
Strength in patient care
Across the three campuses, approximately 96,000
patients are admitted to the hospital annually. The Royal Oak campus
admits 57,000 patients each year, making it one of the top hospitals in
the nation for patient admissions. That translates to opportunities for
OUWB students to see a vast array of patient cases during their
training.
Experience in medical education
Medical education is not new to Beaumont Health System. Beaumont physicians has been educating medical students for over fifty years. OUWB medical students will benefit from Beaumont’s extensive experience teaching basic clinical skills, required clerkship rotations, and extensive elective courses. Also experienced in graduate medical education, Beaumont is home to 38 accredited residency and fellowship programs training approximately 400 residents and fellows.

The Ernst Cardiovascular Center is a 4,537
square-foot facility within the Royal Oak hospital that features the
latest in 3-D echocardiography imaging equipment, video consultation and
six multidisciplinary clinics that offers providers and patients
innovative and collaborative approaches for the treatment of the most
complex heart and vascular conditions.

The Marcia and Eugene Applebaum Surgical
Learning Center is a $4.5-million facility on the Royal Oak campus
providing scientific application of modern simulation technology to
improve cognitive, communication and psychomotor skills for students,
residents and healthcare professionals. The center is one of about 25 in
the U.S. awarded Level 1 status by the American College of Surgeons.

The Beaumont Heart Center – a world leader
in research, diagnosis and treatment of heart attack, heart rhythm
disorders and chest pain, and the Ministrelli Women’s Heart Center, the
state’s only center exclusively devoted to women’s heart disease
prevention and diagnosis.

The Family Medicine department at the Troy
campus was designed with medical students in mind. Consultation rooms
were constructed near patient rooms so that students can review and
discuss cases during patient appointments.
