Slavic Studies Scholarship Application
The scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Frederick G. Kaviuk and Ms. Mary Kirachuk to assist eligible students who are committed to the study of Slavic life, culture, language or history.
You may complete the
application online and submit via email to osterber@oakland.edu, or print and bring to the International Studies Program, 521 Varner Hall. The deadline for submission is: March 15, 2013
The Gretchen J. Adler Study Abroad Endowed Fund
The International Studies Program (ISP) announces the availability of scholarships from the Gretchen J. Adler Study Abroad Endowed Fund. Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, travel and/or room and board expenses relating to student participation in a University-approved study abroad program, during the Academic Year 2014-2015. University-approved study abroad programs are those listed on the web page of the Office of International Education. Following donor preferences, the award is limited to students who intend to study in Europe or China. More than one award may be given.
Students otherwise eligible for this award include those who:
- are undergraduates enrolled in a humanities or social science program in the College of Arts and Sciences
- have successfully completed a minimum of 8 credits of college level study in a foreign language related to their study abroad program or project
- commit to a period of study abroad for a minimum of one full semester.
Application should be sent to the International Studies Program of the College of Arts and Sciences in 521 Varner Hall, no later than March 20, 2014. Awards will be announced no later than April 27, 2014.
The Hajja Razia Sharif Sheikh Islamic Studies Scholarship
The Hajja Razia Sharif Sheikh Islamic Studies Scholarship was established in honor of the late Mrs. Sheikh, a native of Lahore, Pakistan. Although Mrs. Sheikh was schooled at home in a traditional manner and did not receive a formal education, she held a strong belief in education and encouraged all eight of her children to pursue college studies; three of her children are practicing physicians. Mrs. Sheikh was active in her community and a leader in her faith; she performed Hajj and continue to do so even after she was severely disabled by arthritis.
Eligibility: Undergraduate students may apply who have completed at least one course in the curriculum for the Islamic Studies minor and meet University standards for academic achievement. The scholarship may be used towards a university approved study abroad program or tuition.
