A beginning course. IT 114 must be taken first. IT 114 or 115 satisfies the university general education requirement in the foreign language and culture knowledge exploration area. IT 214-215 Second Year Italian (4 each) A two-semester sequence continuing the work of IT 114-115 with the addition of cultural and literary readings. IT 214 must be taken first. IT 214 or 215 satisfies the university general education requirement in the foreign language and culture knowledge exploration area. Prerequisite: one year of college Italian or equivalent. IT 390 Directed Readings in Italian (2 or 4) Directed individual readings in Italian. May be repeated for a total of 8 credits. Prerequisite: permission of instructor. ML 211 Diction for Singers, First Semester (2) A basic course to instruct voice students in the techniques for pronouncing foreign languages. Extensive work with the International Phonetic Alphabet, tapes, and native speakers. Italian and Latin will be stressed. Offered fall semester in alternate years.
