Why OUWB: Student-Centered Approach

Why OUWB: A Student-Centered Approach

Why A Student-Centered Approach is Important to Your Medical Education

Our faculty focuses on your individual needs as a medical student and takes a sincere interest in your education. They do this by taking a student-centered approach. This approach encourages you to take an active role in your education.

Imagine coming to class each day and realizing that you have a voice and an influence in the classroom! Your interest and abilities are developed and your individual learning style is taken into account by our master educators.

How we use a Student-Centered Approach

With only 50 students, our inaugural class benefits from individual attention from faculty and staff.

Our mentoring program, PRISM (Promoting Reflection and Individual growth through Support and Mentoring) provides you with guidance in professional development for your entire four years at OUWB. You are grouped in teams of 10-12 students with a faculty member who guides you in career exploration, team building skills, and more.

Active learning allows you more opportunities to get involved and participate in the learning process. Our student-centered approach shifts the focus from the teacher to you, the student. You are presented with problems or clinical cases for brainstorming, discussing and debating in class.

A single location for all of your needs. The Center for Medical Student Services is equipped with staff to assist you with everything from assistance with study skills to organizing a student group.
