Eugene A. Miller had a distinguished career in banking, culminating in an eight-year term as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Comerica Bank, a Fortune 500 company and one of the nation’s largest and most profitable banking companies. His leadership skill is evident in its consistent pattern of growth and profitability through every business cycle and in the merger of regional banks into a cohesive whole. The company’s purchase of naming rights to Comerica Park reflects its commitment to the prosperity of its home town. He has provided valuable service as an advisor to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and many other professional associations, and he has been an energetic and honored leader in public service for Detroit Renaissance, the Oakland University Foundation, and many other public, non-profit organizations.
Oakland University celebrated his accomplishments in business and public service by conferring upon him the degree of Doctor of Humanities, honoris causa.
