 Gordon England, Doctor of Science

Gordon England started his business career in 1966 at Honeywell where he was an engineer on the Project Gemini space program.  He worked for Litton Industries as program manager on the E-2C Hawkeye aircraft and was CEO of CRE Consultants.   Gordon served as Secretary of the Navy and previously as Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security. He has also been President of General Dynamics Land Systems Division and Executive Vice President of General Dynamics Corporation, responsible for Information Systems and International Affairs. As a distinguished engineer, Gordon served on the Board of Advisors to the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Oakland University and was instrumental in securing grants that expanded the school’s research capacity. His technical expertise and business acumen are highly respected in the defense community, and he is dedicated to promoting the arts and sciences of technology and enhancing a range of cultural and civic enterprises. Oakland University honored him for his accomplishments in engineering and public leadership by conferring upon him the degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa.
