Biography
Scott M. Pickett is a licensed clinical psychologist and research scientist joining the Department of Psychology as an Assistant Professor. He recently completed a clinical research post-doctoral fellowship in adult psychology at the University of Michigan, Department of Psychiatry. Prior to his fellowship, he completed his Doctorate in Psychology from Northern Illinois University including a clinical residency at the Edward Hines VA Hospital in Chicago. His research interests include identifying risk factors and consequences of psychological trauma. Specifically, he employs experimental paradigms to investigate the impact of emotional avoidance and sleep disruption on the processing of traumatic emotional memories. His research is aimed at further understanding the development and maintenance of anxiety disorders and improving treatments for these disorders.
