Emergency Procedures and Information
While Oakland University does not anticipate any problems in relation to the war in Iraq, information is available on this Web page to provide answers to commonly asked questions or to direct those with questions to the proper source for information.

Should the national threat level be raised to red, check Oakland University’s home page for information on how this may impact the university’s day-to-day business.

Oakland University Information:

Letter to the OU community – Letter from OU President Gary Russi to the campus community about the university's emergency plans and procedures.

General Emergency Procedures – OU's Police Department offers general information on campus emergency procedures.

Counseling Services – OU's Graham Health and Counseling Center offers counseling services to students, faculty and staff.

Crime Reporting – To report a possible crime on campus, contact the Oakland University Police Department at (248) 370-3331 or by dialing 911.

International Students and Scholars – OU's International Students and Scholars Office provides services and advocates on behalf of international students and scholars at the university.

Military Activation – Students who are activated for military duty should contact the Registrar’s Office at (248) 370-3455 or e-mail registra@oakland.edu. If they live on campus, they also should contact the University Housing Office at (248) 370-3570 or housing@oakland.edu. Employees who are activated for military service should notify their immediate supervisor and University Human Resources at (248) 370-3498 or benefits@oakland.edu.

  • Guide to Citizen Preparedness – Comprehensive guide to personal emergency preparedness published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which brings together facts on disaster survival techniques, disaster-specific information, and how to prepare for and respond to both natural and man-made disasters.

Homeland Security – Information from the White House about homeland security across the nation and in each state. It also provides the latest alert level and definitions.

Michigan State Police – Homeland Security  –  Information on the homeland security advisory system and terrorism prepardness.
