Biography
I am an Oakland University alumnus and was one of the first students to graduate from OU with a degree in Wellness, Health Promotion and Injury Prevention. My experience with teaching began in 2005 where I served as the lab assistant for WHP305. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I accepted a graduate research assistantship at Wayne State University which primarily involved collecting health and fitness related data in the Detroit Public Middle Schools. Afterwards, I returned to OU to serve as the Graduate Assistant for Fitness Programs and Services with the Department of Campus Recreation. Upon completion of my Masters degree, I joined the staff in Preventative and Rehabilitative Cardiology at William Beaumont Hospital. My current responsibilities include cardiac rehabilitation, stress testing, and coordinating resistance training for the department. I am also involved with several ongoing research projects. I hold certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine as a Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer, Health Fitness Specialist, Clinical Exercise Specialist and Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist. I am also certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. In a pursuit to further my education, I plan to begin a doctoral program this winter.

Degrees
BS, Wellness, Health Promotion and Injury Prevention, Oakland University (2005)
MS, Exercise Science, Oakland University (2008)

Interests
I am very passionate about all aspects of health and wellness and feel fortunate to be able to help others feel better about living a healthy and active lifestyle. Away from work, I enjoy running, biking, hiking, resistance training, practicing yoga, working on home improvement projects, cooking and spending time with my husband Adam and lab-mix Audi. In October I will be completing my third full marathon.
