    Motion from Graduate Council regarding use of title “Dr.” in Oakland University media.  (Ms. Jackson, Mr. Moran)

            MOVED that the use of the title “Dr.” on Oakland University print and electronic media shall be under the exclusive purview of the faculty of the associated academic discipline. 

    Second reading:  Debatable, amendable, and eligible for final vote at this meeting.

E.  New Business

 
1.   Motion from the School of Education and Human Services to approve a revised Constitution. (Ms. Osborne)

            MOVED that the Senate recommend to the President and the Board of Trustees approval of the new Constitution of the School of Education and Human Services.

 
    First reading: Debatable but not eligible for final vote at this meeting.  Senate protocol holds constitutions to be unamendable from the floor.  If revisions seem to be needed, the document will be referred to its authors for reconsideration.

Comment: SEHS Constitution 1991 version:  SEHS Constitution 2010 version with markup.  


2.    Resolution supporting a Statement on Academic Freedom.  (Mr. Grimm)

            MOVED that the Senate supports a Statement on Academic Freedom at Oakland University. 

 
    First reading:  debatable, amendable, but not eligible for final vote at this meeting.

3.   Procedural motion from the Steering Committee to staff a Senate standing committee.  (Ms. Miller)

            MOVED that the person listed below be appointed to the following Senate standing committee: 

                University Committee on Undergraduate Instruction (SHS)

                    Charles McGlothlin – through 2012
