D. Old Business

Motion from the Library to approve a revised Constitution. (Mr. Polis, Ms. Moore)

MOVED that the Senate recommend to the President and the Board of Trustees approval of the new Constitution of the Library.

Second reading: debatable and eligible for final vote at this meeting. Senate protocol holds unit constitutions to be unamendable from the floor. If revisions seem to be needed, the document will be referred back to its authors for reconsideration.

Note: First reading occurred at the April 2009 meeting. Here are links to: a) the revised Constitution with changes noted and b) a clean copy of the revised Constitution.

E.    New Business

1.    Election of Senate Steering Committee member--Senate Elections Committee (Ms. Williams)

The Senate needs to fill a vacancy on the Senate Steering Committee. The only limitation on electability of senators to the Committee is that no more than two may be elected from any one organized faculty. Currently two members from the College are serving.

2.    Motion to rescind the motion to form the Senate Planning and Budget Review Committee. (Mr. Grimm)

        MOVED that the motion, adopted on May 1, 2009, that the Senate Budget Review Committee and Senate Planning Review Committee be discontinued and replaced by the Senate Planning and Budget Review Committee as a standing committee of the Senate, be rescinded.

First reading: debatable, amendable, but not eligible for final vote at this meeting.

3.    Procedural motion to staff Senate standing committees.

        MOVED that the persons listed below be appointed to the committees designated:

        Academic Conduct Committee
        Nessan Kerrigan (CAS) – 2009-2010

        Assessment Committee
        David Kidger (CAS) – 2009-2010

        General Education Committee
        John Seeley (CAS) – 2009-2010
