Learning Modalities

The Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine has embraced the instructional philosophy that no greater than 50% of student instructional activity in the M1 and M2 years be conducted by lecture. Each course will require self-directed independent study or self-directed study in small groups (team-based learning). The ability of students to collaborate in teams enables the faculty to facilitate and monitor the student’s growth especially in the competencies of professionalism and communication skills.
