Welcome to the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering,
Every graduate student is assigned a faculty advisor. If you need advising on course selections or other academic matters, you are encouraged to see your advisor or contact him/her by email or phone. If you don’t know the name of your faculty advisor, please contact ECE department secretary, Markhanna McBurrows.
All academic information and forms are available online. If you are unable to find them or need help with anything else, you are welcome to contact ECE Department Secretary, Markhanna McBurrows, at Mcburrow@oakland.edu or in person at 102A SEB.
Registering for Courses
Please refer to the Oakland university website to check for the courses offered in the current semester. Also, the ECE department notice board displays the class schedules for the current and the next semesters. You can also access information online by logging in here. This will provide all the information you need for registration, e-bills, courses registered, etc. If you are a newly admitted student, you are not allowed to register online. You need to register either in person after getting the signature of your faculty advisor or course instructor on an Add/Drop form. The Add/Drop forms can be collected from either Registration office or ECE department office at 102A SEB.
Before registering for a course, please make sure that you meet the necessary pre-requisites. If you received a conditional admission to a graduate program, you should first try to fulfill the conditions stated in your letter of admission.
International students are expected to arrive a few days early, meet the counselors at the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO), attend the orientation, and complete other formalities, as necessary.
Please remember that all graduate students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 and only two courses with grades below 3.0 but above 2.5 can be counted toward a graduate degree.
Students are also encouraged to take an active role in IEEE Student Chapter events, and attend seminars and workshops organized by the department. We wish your association with the ECE department to be memorable and productive.
