Welcome to the Oakland University Writing Center:
The "Write Space" on Campus
Effective communication skills provide you with the opportunity to advance academically, professionally, and socially. Critical reading and writing skills help you to explore ideas, question possible outcomes, and draw conclusions as you navigate your academic and career path.
The OU Writing Center is open to writers at any stage of the writing process, not just students enrolled in Rhetoric, English or other writing courses, but everyone from business to science to engineering to health and beyond. Writing is a developmental process, and the Oakland University Writing Center allows you to pilot your ideas with an interested and supportive audience.
The center includes trained writing consultants at all levels of specialization who will help you explore ways to approach different writing situations. Peer and faculty consultants will help you to build a communication tool box.
All Writing Center services are free to Oakland University students, faculty, and staff.
Learn more about the Writing Center by exploring this website and visiting Oakland University's "write space."
The mural inset, "The Gift" (2006), based upon Jean-Francois Millet's 1857 painting "Gleaners," was created by art history student Casey Conlon and applied by art history students in Lynn Galbreath's "Topics and Illustrations" course for the Oakland University Writing Center dedication.
