Career Stories

Greetings, Alumni!
As part of our ongoing efforts, along with The English Channel, to keep in touch with graduates of our programs in English, we'd like to invite you to tell us your stories. We want to know-- and, just as importantly, current and prospective English majors want to know-- where your degree in English has taken you.
It's likely that every English major, at one point or another, has asked him- or herself, what can I do with an English major? Experience has taught us that there are many answers to that question, that English majors are working in a wide variety of careers, from creative writing and teaching to editing, law, business, and more. But we'd like to be more specific. We'd like to hear about your career path, the ways that the study of literature and language helped you pursue your goals, the role that literature and the skills you learned as an English major play in your professional life.
Of course, as people who have devoted our lives to the study of literature, we love stories. And we're exceedingly proud of the graduates from our B.A. and M.A. programs. The truth is, we're just interested in what you're up to-- and we suspect that many of you are interested in one another. So sharing your career story is an opportunity to reconnect with former teachers and classmates, as well as a chance to help current and future English majors envision their own future career paths.
If you'd like to share your story, just visit our submissions page. And while you're in the submitting mood, don't forget to submit a contribution to our newsletter, The English Channel. |
