Member Services

Besides the numerous fitness classes, exercise equipment, and recreational facilities and programs offered at the Rec Center, members also can take advantage of the many different member services, including:

ATM Machine | Court Reservations | Elevator | Equipment Checkout | Lockers | Lost and Found | Parking | Social Lounge | Tours | Towels


ATM Machine
An ATM Machine, operated by Credit Union One, is located near the entrance of the building by the Welcome Center. Use of the machine is free to Credit Union ONE members and those who belong to the CO-OP network.

Court Reservations
Racquetball and squash courts may be reserved 24 hours in advance or on the desired date, depending on availability. Courts are reserved on the hour or half hour by calling the Equipment Service Desk at (248) 370-4514. Reservations also can be made in person at the service desk.

Elevator
The elevator located in the Rec Center is available for those with physical disabilities and for transporting recreational sports equipment and supplies.

Equipment Checkout
Rec Center members and guests can check out equipment for a variety of activities at the Equipment Service Desk in the lower level of the Rec Center. Most equipment can be checked out free of charge, or there may be a nominal fee.

The equipment available includes:

  • basketballs
  • badminton rackets and birdies
  • jump ropes
  • table tennis paddles and balls
  • volleyballs
  • racquetballs and rackets
  • soccer balls
  • squash rackets
  • wallyballs

An ID is required to check out equipment, and there will be a charge to the individual if the item is not returned.

Lockers
The men’s and women’s locker rooms each have restroom facilities, showers and more than 200 lockers. An additional 64 lockers are available elsewhere in the lower level of the Rec Center.

All lockers are available free of charge for daily use. Patrons may bring their own lock or rent a lock for the day for 50 cents. Personal locks that are not removed before the building closes at night will be removed at the owner's expense.

A limited number of lockers with locks provided also are available to rent.

Lost and Found
The Rec Center strongly recommends that individuals not bring valuable items to the facility when working out. All items left behind will be held at the Equipment Service Desk for two weeks. However, valuable items, such as wallets and rings, will be immediately turned over to the OU Police Department.

Parking
Oakland University provides parking on a first-come, first-served basis for students, faculty, staff and guests. Rec Center patrons will find convenient parking available in Lot 26 (near Varner Hall), Lot 16 (in front of Fitzgerald House) and Lot 17 (near the Athletics Center). A parking structure, located south of the Recreation Center on Pioneer Drive, also offers 550 parking spaces. For more information, visit the Parking at Oakland University Web page.

Social Lounge
The Rec Center has a beautiful lounge area with couches, tables and chairs in the upper level of the building. The lounge also has a spectacular view overlooking the university’s varsity baseball, softball and soccer fields.

Tours
Rec Center staff are happy to give tours of the building at any time. Just stop in and ask for a tour. Information for self-guided tours also is available. However, for large groups, we ask that you call the Rec Center in advance at (248) 370-4732 to schedule a tour.

Towels
The Rec Center recommends patrons bring their own towels when working out because there is no towel service.
