Junior and Senior Leadership Scholars
The Junior and Senior Leadership Scholars program is designed to help students develop, refine and apply their leadership skills. The Junior and Senior Scholars program is competitive and comes with a scholarship opportunity. Each Junior and Senior Scholar will receive a $500 scholarship after successfully completing the program. Successful completion of the program necessitates that a participant:
- Participate in monthly Scholar meetings
- Attend monthly Scholar Leadership Speaker Series (third Tuesday of each month).
- Mentor Sophomore and Freshman Scholars
- Complete (40) of hours of internal or external service to the SBA.
Options for Internal Service
- Assist with the planning and execution of two SBA events (i.e., SBA Welcome Reception, Go for the Gold, Transfer Open House, Discover OU, etc.).
- Assist with the SBA’s professional and career development programming (i.e., ACHIEVE)
- Serve as an ambassador for special events
- Serve as an SBA peer advisers (insert link to peer advisers).
Optional for External Service: The Dean’s Consultative Group
- Junior and Senior Leadership scholars will, as a part of a team, participate in external consulting programs facilitated by the School of Business. The projects are designed to provide students with significant experiential and service learning opportunities.
To be considered for the Junior and Senior Leadership Scholars program, students must:
- have major standing in the SBA by the Fall 2009 term
- have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Demonstrate campus involvement, with preference on SBA involvement
- be making reasonable academic progress
The selection committee will review the application materials (e,g, a completed application, a resume and a letter of recommendation from an SBA faculty member) and evaluate students based on their cumulative GPA, demonstrated campus and SBA involvement, as well as demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
Final candidates will be interviewed. Special consideration will be given to ensure that each major is represented.

You should already have your OU email account, but if you don't, click here to obtain your OU email account.
- If you supplied your birthdate on your records, your PIN will be your birthdate (MMDDYY). If you did not supply your birthdate to OU, then try the last six digits of your Grizzly ID as your default PIN.
- If neither of these works, follow the instructions at http://www2.oakland.edu/grizzid to reset your PIN back to the default (your birthdate or last six digits of your Grizzly ID). Check the SAIL PIN Reset box.
Sign in to the SBA Advising Portal
- Click on the Student Login link on the left and then log in with your newly created OU Email username (minus the @oakland.edu) and password.
- Then, follow the link on the left for 'Scholars Application'
- Fill out the form and click 'Submit Application'
If you are accepted into the Junior or Senior Leadership Scholars program you will receive a letter verifying your acceptance.
