Requirements for a Concentration in Film Aesthetics and History

A minimum of 28 credits is required, including:

2. CIN315 Film Theory and Criticism


3. Two courses chosen from:
   • CIN 300 History of Film: The Silent Era
   • CIN 301 History of Film: The Sound Era to 1958
   • CIN 302 History of Film: The New Wave and Its Impact
   • CIN 303 History of Film: Into the 21st Century


4. One course chosen from:
   
   • AN 307 Culture and Society in Film
   • CIN 350 Topics in Film
   • CIN 450 Advanced Topics in Film
   • COM 303 Communication Theory
   • COM 371 Forms and Effects of Mass Communication
   • ENG 309 Adaptation: Fiction, Drama, Film
   • MUS 334 History of Film Music
   • SA 268 Video Art I
   • SA 368 Video Art II
   • CIN 450 Advanced Topics in Film OR CIN 499 Independent Study may be substituted for one of the courses listed above, with the permission of the Cinema Studies program director.
