Master of Science in Information Technology Management (MSITM) Program Requirements

The degree program consists of 30 credit hours of advanced IT management courses, on top of a co-requisite foundation consisting of six credit hours. These six credits can be waived based on previously taken courses or, in some cases, based on work experience. The program can be completed in as little as one to one-and-a-half years if the foundation courses are waived. MIS Undergraduate students may complete the program in as little as one year, see the 4 + 1 Plan for details. The duration of the program for part-time students will depend on the course load carried by them each semester.

IT Core

These three courses provide a common foundation for all students. The courses consider the way business processes are analyzed, designed and implemented for IT support. Database and network management will be integrated throughout.  These courses may be waived, given evidence of an equivalent course taken within five years. If waived, a course must be replaced by an elective course.

MIS 515   Systems Design

MIS 516   Software Program and Project Management

Elective Courses/Area of Focus

After the students have built a solid foundation they will be able to choose six courses from a host of electives on emerging information technologies and topics of current interest. Electives are listed by areas of focus. A student may choose to focus in a specific area, but any combination of electives may be taken. Students may complete a concentration by taking four electives (12 credits) in any of the three areas.
