Student Curriculum and Activities
Teleconferencing Rooms: In order to connect our students with students from around the world, SBA has set up teleconferencing facilities, which have been used to connect students from the OU business school with students from Hohai University in Nanjing, China, Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade in Shanghai and Beijing Jaitong University in Beijing. They worked on several projects in 2008-09. For information on these projects, read the
article on Global Teams from the Spring 2009 issue of SBA Insight.
Global Student Internships: An extension of this global connection supports students from here and other countries to work with companies on internship-type projects as team. One project between Hohai University in Nanjing, China, and OU students is provided by Ford. Several other projects are planned for Winter 2010 that will connect students from China and India with OU students. These are projects defined by local companies.
Graduate Cohort Programs: Full-time graduate students from the U.S. and other countries are being recruited into our graduate programs as a pilot program this year and next year. The expectation is that the students will work in teams on business projects while they are completing their MBA or MS programs, possibly for multi-national firms. These projects are funded under our ELI (Experiential Learning and Innovation) program, which is similar to the SBA's undergraduate Applied Technology in Business program. These projects may lead to summer internships in other countries as well as employment opportunities once they graduate.
International Case Competition: The School of Business Administration, in partnership with CA, Indiana University and University of Arizona is organizing an international case competition on Strategic Position of IT. This yearly competition brings students from multiple countries to compete for prize money every 18 months. For details, click here.
