To maximally benefit the OU biomedical research community by providing service to members who require ultrastructural analyses in support of funded projects or demonstrably fundable new research initiatives.

Facilities
4,500 square foot suite includes wet laboratory, darkroom, ultramicrotome, TEM equipped with digital acquisition system, critical point drier, sputter coater, glow discharge unit, and related accessories. A new Leica Fluorescence microscope was installed in September, 2010.
Eligibility
Services are available to Oakland University and William Beaumont Hospital biomedical research Principal Investigators.
Fee Structure
An OU fund # (on-campus PIs) or invoicing address (off-campus PIs) must be provided at the time services are requested. Service projects are charged monthly. Estimates for project initiation and completion can be provided upon request.

Requesting Service(s)
1) A (free) consultation is required to determine project feasibility, timeframe and cost. NO services will be provided prior to project review and approval.
2) PI should send a brief email to Ms. Loan Dang (dang@oakland.edu), and include the following information:
a. What question will TEM help you answer?
b. Have you performed this type of assay previously?
c. A pdf that provides an example of methodology and expected data.
d. Short term and long term numbers of samples

Workorder initiation and project scheduling
1) PI will be notified via email within one week, regarding project approval, timeframe and estimated cost. A WORKORDER REQUEST FORM will be provided. The PI may assign a lab member to manage the project at this point.
2) A fully completed WORKORDER REQUEST FORM must be EMAILED to Ms. Dang (
dang@oakland.edu).
a. Every sample to be analyzed must be listed individually on the form.
Sample submission, processing and return
1) Samples delivered to Ms. Dang (428DHE) must be accompanied by a (PI) signed hardcopy of the WORKORDER REQUEST FORM.
2) Work requests are usually processed in the order they are received; turnaround times typically range from 2-6 weeks.
3) Samples and data will be returned to the investigator upon completion of the workorder.
