The dynamic process of adhesive frictionless contact between a
viscoelastic body and a foundation is studied. Adhesion is modeled by
introducing an internal variable which measures the fraction of active
bonds. Its evolution is described by a differential equation that depends
on the process history, taking into account adhesive degradation during
cycles of debonding and rebonding. A fully discrete numerical scheme
for the model is proposed and used in a computer code for the problem.
Then, the numerical simulations describing the adhesive contact a rod are
presented.
