I am Distinguished Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Oakland University. I joined Oakland University in 1997, and I served one term as Chair of the department in 2010–2013. I served again as Acting Chair in Winter 2016.

I was a member of the examination committee of the Michigan Mathematics Prize Competition (MMPC) in 2001–2005, 2008–2012 and 2013–2017; and I was the Director from 2005 to 2008. MMPC is a state-wide competition given every year to thousands of high school students in Michigan.

I am a member of the editorial team of several journals:

In addition, I am the Director of the Oakland University Summer Mathematics Institute (OUSMI). It is a free summer mathematics program for bright and gifted pre-college students. For more information, please visit OUSMI.

I like to mentor bright high school students for projects in mathematics and computer science. Some of these projects had advanced to semifinals and beyond in national competitions such as Siemens Competitions, the Intel Science Talent Search, and the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, as well as regional science fairs. Many of these projects also resulted in publications in refereed journals.
