Tenure-Track Position in Writing and Rhetoric: POSITION FILLED 2/12/2013

The Department of Writing and Rhetoric at Oakland University seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 15, 2012. Applicants must be committed to undergraduate education, in both general education and the Writing and Rhetoric major. Research specializations sought include medical writing, international technical writing, or science writing, but all qualified applicants will receive full consideration.

The successful candidate will pursue an active research agenda, teach courses in professional and technical writing, and engage in service such as developing courses for the Professional Writing track of our growing major in Writing and Rhetoric. Expected teaching assignment is 3/2.

The candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Technical Communication, Professional Writing, or a related field by August 15, 2013. The candidate must have a record of effective teaching with technology and demonstrate an understating of the role of new media in contemporary professional writing.

2009-2012 OU AAUP Barganing Agreement regarding Special Lecturers

Regular part-time employment (Special Lecture) is defined as teaching 16 or more credits in a calendar year, at least 8 of which must be taught during either the fall or winter semester. A person rendering such service shall be titled "special lecturer" and shall be represented by the Association during such period. Employment periods shall be one year, commencing August 15,renewable indefinitely. After four years of such service, employment periods shall be two years, renewable indefinitely.
