UCM manages messages on the three-sided, electronic sign seen by thousands of people driving through the intersection of Walton and Adams roads each day.
The sign, which runs 24/7, is used to promote university events and share important information. Messages on the sign advance university goals and promote community involvement and support.
The message posting service is offered at no charge to any officially recognized university department, office, organization or student group.
Guidelines
- Messages should be about events or topics that are of interest to the campus community and the general public.
- Due to limited space, messages should contain only essential information, with a phone number and/or website that viewers can use to learn more.
- University policy and agreements governing use of the sign prohibit the listing of external sponsors of university events within marquee messages.
- No personal phone numbers or email addresses will be posted.
- Messages can include up to three frames, with up to two lines of text in each frame. Each line of text should contain 1-4 words.
- Messages are generally posted for up to a month. Actual run time will depend on how long in advance of an event or desired run time a request is submitted and the level of campus-wide demand for message postings during the desired run time.
- Message requests can be submitted up to several months prior to an event or the desired run time. We cannot guarantee timely posting of messages submitted less than a week prior to an event or desired run time.
- UCM reserves the right to reject requests that do not conform to posting guidelines, and to edit messages for content, style, readability and fit.
Student Organizations
In addition to meeting the above guidelines, student org message requests must be submitted to the Center for Student Activities. CSA will serve as the contact point for all approved requests. Complete event details should be emailed to
csa@oakland.edu as a first step. If and when CSA has replied granting approval of the request, the link at right can be used to submit a message request.
