Eligibility Information
If you have not already done so, complete a 2012-2013
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Oakland University Student Financial Services must have a 2012-2013 FAFSA on file by June 30, 2013 or two weeks before your last summer session ends (whichever is earlier), before financial aid can be awarded.
Students eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and select OU scholarships will be automatically identified and awarded. Students wishing to receive Federal Direct Loans should review the
Maximum Annual Loan Limits for Federal Direct Loans chart below and
if remaining loan eligibility exist, complete a
Summer 2013 Loan Eligibility Request.
Summer financial aid packages will be available to be viewed on the
Award Overview tab on SAIL beginning February 1.
Students must be admitted into an eligible degree or
certificate program of study to be considered for financial aid. All OU degree programs and select certificate programs (including teacher certification) qualify for financial aid. Endorsements, second majors, professional development, non-degree,
continuing education, credit by exam (competency credit), audited courses, guest students, etc. do not qualify for financial aid.
Students are responsible for payment of summer tuition and on-campus housing charges by the due dates until financial aid is processed and all financial aid requirements are satisfied. Please allow adequate processing time, generally 5-10 business days.
Students will receive information regarding financial aid eligibility for the summer semester via OU email. Please review
payment and refund information.
Available Summer Financial Aid
The Federal Pell Grant and select OU scholarships and grants are available for the summer semester. Students eligible for these awards are automatically identified and awarded. Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized loans are available for the summer semester if students have loan eligibility remaining from the fall and winter semesters.
Federal Direct
Parent PLUS and
Graduate PLUS loans are additional non need-based resources which require a separate application.
