Department Mission
The Department of Educational Leadership mission is:
  • To provide quality teaching, service, and research that contributes to the development of transformational leaders who meet professional standards and serve effectively in their chosen leadership capacities.
  • To equip leaders to transform schools and institutions to be places that are inclusive, responsive, and capable of educating students for success and leadership in a knowledge economy.
  • To use our time, intellect, and resources to create and sustain a learning environment that celebrates, respects, values, and nurtures the authenticity of ourselves and others for the purpose of facilitating growth in intellectual complexity as students prepare for professional careers in any educational institution.  
  • To prepare educational leaders and scholars who can incorporate the moral imperative of public education to real schools, colleges and universities and will be able to lead the changes needed for continuous improvement of those institutions.    
  • To prepare and support graduate students for relevant, effective and efficient leadership practice and scholarship that improves academic achievement and academic institutions through our own continuous improvement methods as a community of inquiry and practice.
